Having just finished off a few burgers from Dick's as well as a strawberry shake and with the knowledge that UW hasn't neccesarily been the best team this year and USC kinda is, makes this game much easier to watch. Hopefully the boys of the house are enjoying their time in the sun and don't get too red.

Prepping for the upcoming Ultimate tournament will be interesting. Team name: Phat Pussy. Team costume: black cats. Team party costume: sex-crazed 70s cow-poke. Team mode of transportation: SCOOTERS! The tournie will be a blast and the team I'm with is going to be amazing. We'll be playing against another team from Alaska as well as the SquirrelUnion SU team.

To recap the other tournaments that have occured, I've been in Chicago IL, up in Burlington, and down in Davis CA. We didn't have enough guys in Chicago to do well, so we tried our hardest with what we had and still had a good time. I didn't show up to the first day of the Sectionals in Burlington, but it was a good Sunday when we played against MOHO, a juniors team, some other team that we beat from some college (I think GU), and then we lost to the Kegworkers, the Seattle masters team, by a couple points, gaining us the third seat to Regionals behind the two best teams in the NW (probably the nation) - Furious George out of Vancouver BC and Sockeye (Nat'l champs 2004) out of Seattle who are expected to win next week down in Florida. Regionals was awesome. We(#7 of 12 teams) had quite a day on Saturday and lost only to Furious George(2). This means that beat a higher seeded team than we were, Rhino(5), out of Portland who happen to be a bunch of fuckers that we knocked out of the tournament. SWEET! The next day we played Jam(3) in the morning and lost and would venture to play DarkStar(8 or 9) who would beat us due to our lack of wanting it. We were winning the entire game until they came back from a half-time score of 8-5 to a 12-12 in a game to 15. What happened? I don't know... They went on to play against Jam who they lost to, i think. We stuck around and watched the finals and the 3rd place game to see who all was going to Florida. The list from the west is Furious(1), Jam(2), and Sockeye(3). All teams are very competetive and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Otherwise, outside my life as a hardcore Ultimate player, I've gotten a job at Tully's Coffee down in Pike's Place Market. If you want, go to the north side by Cutters and give me a visit. I can't hook you up with anything (possibly), but friendly faces are always welcome. I usually am hooked up with the midshift so I'm there almost all day (8 to 3). It's a good time and I think I know most of the regulars' actual names. We're kind of expected to get to know our customers and I guess I know about half of them. One of them owns the bike shop down the street which sells some amazing bikes. I walk in and am drop-jawed every time.

Speaking of bikes, I'm going to be trying to piece together a fixed gear out of the change that I've earned so far from the tips I've gotten (about 200). I've got a frame, handlebars, cranks, the brake, and some other amenities and still need the wheels. It'll be interesting because I'm going to be building it myself. Hooray for learning!

I'm also reading a book by Roger Penrose called The Road to Reality It's a pretty cool read about how mathematics applies to the rest of the world. Getting to the future chapters will be extremely interesting just due to the subject matter... but enough with boring applied math.

So, to recap, living on 52nd and 11th, Dante's Thursday nights, Ultimate all the time, Tully's for money, and just hanging out or sleeping whenever possible. Yes indeedy... good times.

August half-way gone

For some reason, time has really decided to fly by this summer. I've been having quite a good time just chilling and doing whatever. Currently, I'm making a couple friends feel better about their lives by letting them know that I'm working at Tully's. I started today and now know how to make a latte and a cappucino. I even know how to call orders! I know, it's exciting!

So yeah, that's cool. And then I've got a game coming up with Kodiak, the ultimate team I'm on, against the Kegworkers, otherwise known as the Keggies, who are the masters team out of Seattle. It'll be pretty sweet. I love playing games and hopefully my pulled hammie will live up to it.

Let's see, let's see... what else has happened?... Worked for Casey down at PLU for while, went to Atlanta and got food poisoning. Do NOT get food poisoning, it is so not cool. Rob and Jess got married and I don't remember one of the nights of the week, but the thirty shots the waiter brought out was fricken' sweet. A couple Mariners games were attended and a good time was had by all... except maybe the Mariners, who haven't been doing very well. And I'm also currently going back and forth between Silverdale and here in order to help out Papa with his house. It's quite fun working on a house, if you've never done it. Just figuring out how to do certain things in order to help your home look, feel, or function more better.

I went on my last shopping spree at QFC for this here apartment a couple days ago. Got some pasta, popsicles, pizzas, brats, and some bread for sandwiches. I'll be here until August 31st which makes for an interesting conundrum because the place I intend to live next doesnt' open up until September 10. So, for a week.5 I'll be moving around and quite possibly living in a van, down by the ocean! But then I'll be joining the UW boys on 52nd for a very small fee compared to what I've been used to living over here on CapHill. So now, it'll be time to pack everything else for my ocean living.

And the day is long done

Four years have gone by since I set out on a little journey called College. It was fun going and I’m still having fun borrowing the internet connection I get there. Although they firewall me so I can’t go and download whatever I want, I still can check my e-mail from all the adoring fans (meaning anybody who wants money from me).
June 12th was the date and what a good time it was. I sat with all my math buddies along with an old friend from CKHS days. On the top of our hats we spelt out ‘Euler’- a very famous math dude from a long long time ago. We had a good time, laughing, hugging, playing cards, taking pictures… basically doing whatever we wanted. Danny Bello made the comment that Hjelmaa, a perfectionist at CK, would’ve had a fit if she knew of the things we were doing. After listening to Gary Locke talk about politics and genetic engineering and all sorts of nonsense that had nothing to do with the day, we sat there to listen to a lot of names being called off. I think my favorite one was “Eddie Lincoln, Single.” I took a lot of pictures of friends with diplomas in hand and will eventually be sending out the e-mails so they can have a recollection collection. To finish the ceremony, Danny and I did airplane down the side to our chairs. I think that got everyone going! YAY! MATH!
So yeah… 2 degrees, 4 years, not a bad average I’d say. I figured out that if I went to school for another year and took 45 credits worth of physics, I could have a physics degree. But I don’t think my mother is too keen on that plan, especially since she’s been itching for me to get a job. I’ve got some Microsoft contacts though so maybe I’ll be contacting them in the next week or so.
First things first though, I’ve got to get out and play some Ultimate. This weekend I’m heading down to Eugene to play in a tournament called Solstice with a bunch of guys. It’ll be cool, I think. Or maybe it’ll be really hot and I won’t survive. Either way, I’ll enjoy it. Then the next weekend I’ve got a soccer tournament and then the next week I’m going to Atlanta. You could say that I’m staying busy, but mornings and afternoons are a little slow during the week. I’m thinking about getting a job at Supergo, but they haven’t given me a call yet. meanie-heads. Oh well, better luck will come along in the job frontier.
Otherwise, you’ll be able to find me hanging out a little too much with Nate… quite possibly at the Ram. Or on a dance floor, because dancing kicks ass.
1…2…3… I’m out.

well...

As ya'all might've noticed, celebrating is fun but I guess you should really wait to make sure you have something to celebrate...

Sonics, my dance party for you...

But, the playoffs are still to come and that should be a good time. Right now we've got Detroit vs. Miami. It's a decent game, but it's not as exciting as when the Sonics were still in it.

So I don't know about you all, but if you've ever had a jammed finger, they hurt like a bitch. Right now I think I may have to brace up my middle left finger and then use it as an excuse against typing these final papers. And by final papers, I mean no more school for like, a long time. No more editing or grammatical errors for quite a while... cuz jobs are for sissies.

I think I may need a new pair of pants or something too. Hopefully I'll get a job at North Face and then I could definitely go for a wardrobe overhaul and throw out some old stuff that is no longer needed. Get that camping gear that I've always wanted and then go on a bike trip down the coast. That'd be pretty awesome. I've gotta get my bike overhauled though if I go. It needs a revamp on the gears and on the front shifter, otherwise it'd be a nice, light ride down the coast with the sun setting to the right of me and little shops here and there on the left.

Gradumication!!! HOORAY!!! Cap & gown to be picked up tomorrow. Aisle walking on the 12th of June. Party on that night. And we'll see about an after-party party

ooooOOO Sonics!

And the Sonics come back for a half-time tie at fitty-fitty. Sweetness! I must say! We're slowly falling behind, but if we all believe enough, we'll be able to take this game home with us and then take the series at Key Arena. Oh man, what do you think it'd be like to go to that game. I don't think you could handle the excitement as you realize that Sonics are going to the Finals. So get on the band wagon if you haven't already and get ready to get excited.

ethiopian???

where it's at

It seems that I should get a credit card or something that has frequent flyer miles or something. I'm headed to Georgia again come July. Maybe I'll give my good friend Kyle Sampson a holler and see what he can show me.

The reason for the trip will be to play soccer and have an all around glorious time. Last summer I played keeper for the San Fransisco Ethiopian team Walia and, if I remember correctly, we went to the quarterfinals of a week long tournament that was right here at Qwest Field. This year the team is going to Georgia and has already started training. Dagnu called me just two days ago to dicuss my coming with the team again this year. I guess I did well and they liked my style, attitude, and ability. So yeah, GA dome, here I come! (of course, now I've got to get back in the habit of playing keeper... so if anyone wants to take shots on me, give me a ring or somethin') Thanks to the ESFNA!

That would be the good news. More good news comes in the form that school is almost over and I'll be gradumitating with my edumication in June. ALRIGHT! but, and there's always a but, I have to pass these classes this quarter which means I have to write a paper 8-10 pages long, complete my research project (write paper and give presentation... which is scheduled for next week Tuesday for all those interested in Computing Spectra of Linear Operators), and do another CS research report on how to make sprites in games more visible for those who don't have good vision. Sounds like fun, yes????

go Douglas

 OH YEAH!

Man was it awesome to read this book. I understand that there was no way they could've done all the things that existed in the book in the matter of 2 hours or even with such a skimpy British budget. But, all things considered, the movie was pretty damn awesome as well. I hope they keep making more because I will definitely go and see them. Maybe you should come too.

And now that it's spring, I spend all day outside. So much fun to play Ultimate all day long. This weekend is going to be intense... I just bought a new pair of shoes, due to come in on Wednesday in order to run faster, jump higher, cut harder, and play harder. Girls like guys with skills... cake-building skills, computer-hacking skills, disc-catching skills... OH YEAH!

I just witnessed the first Ultimate commercial... for Michelob light. Shoot. Oh well, at least they showed 'em playing some extreme Ultimate. They even got a girl out diving a guy, which can happen sometimes and that's just sweetness when it does.

And hey... thanks to all for the good times on Cinco de Mayo. 8 shots of Tequila can do a fella good. WOO!

(remember kids, don't play with fireworks.)

1/2 way

1/2 way til the completeion of a pair of degrees. I should be way more excited, but I feel like I'm going to flop over and fall asleep at almost any instant in the day. The only time when I can be sure I'll be standing is when I'm out playing Ultimate on the green with all the other tossers!

And now for the recap of what needs to be recapped...
Virginia was tight. We got there at around midnight VA time so we stayed up a couple extra hours, drinking some wine and having a good time watching Love Actually. Thanks Jerome for sharing with us your fine bottles. In the morning we had a nice continental breakfast where I was able to pack away quite a few toasted bagels with cream cheese. Food is good. The trip was made to go to VMI (Virginia Military Institute) and register for the conference. I found that I would be talking later in the afternoon (around 5:45) so I went and saw a couple talks. After that, I got hungry. So I ventured to a parking lot (I know, sounds exciting) where we went to pick up some allergy medicine for Phil and Jerome. The thing was though that I didn't have any lunch lined up for myself at the conference so I went out to HARDEE'S!!! and if you don't know, you should take a trip out to Montana or some other place that has them and EAT THERE! maybe I should become the Wendy's guy for Hardee's. it's soooooo good!

So yeah, ate at Hardee's (mmmmmmm). Went back to campus and then I was going to see some more talks, but the boys from the military institute with their cute matching red shorts (I think one of them had gold on) were playing disc! I totally needed to play so I did and it was good. I rolled up my khakis, tore off the button down I had and then showed them what real skill is. I was throwing throws they had only dreamed of people dreaming that they could throw such a throw (you follow, I looked good). So we played and I got sweaty and dirty and I was going to give a talk in a couple of hours. How awesome is that?!? The rain came and I jumped on a bus to go take a shower, put on some clean pants and another good smelling shirt with a tie, took another bus back, gave a short talk about stuff (I could tell you, but your brain might explode), then it was time for dinner.

At this point, Richard Johnson gave me a call and told me he was only an hour away. If you don't know, Richard is the best friend a guy could have. Very chill, laid back, and athletic... so we played a lot of basketball when we hung out when we were kids. He came by at around 9:30, after I took a walk in the rain that was coming down like buckets (they gave us free ponchos but they were just white trashbags with a few holes in them). On the walk back to catch a bus to go back and meet him at Howard Johnson, I happened to be walking behind a couple of girls with an umbrella who looked about my age. Now, when walking behind a couple of girls at 9:30 pm on a night where the rain is coming down like buckets and I don't even have one of those silly ponchos or an umbrella, they seem to get kind of freaked out. In order to prevent this fearful attitude, I decided to whistle, but that proved not to work because every 10 steps or so they would take a few jogging steps. I was walking quite quickly, but I thought I looked pretty good in the rain. When it turned out that we were ending up at the same place, they came and talked to me and we had a good laugh about... I told you I looked good.

Reminder: I still haven't eaten and it's now about 10. Richard finally shows up and we go down to Will's Grill to join Jerome and Phil who had opted out of the complimentary meal provided by SU that night. I had a nice salad complimented by a some succelent Buffalo wings. Meat is good. Food is good, Meat is good... And then there was the ride home back Norfolk, VA (a regularly three-hour trip but it turned out to be 4 due to a miscalculation in roadways... oh well, it was good to catch up).

Richard put us up in a hotel and we fell asleep almost immediately. He had to wake up and report to his 3 hours of work, where he did basically nothing. 4 more years of that and he's done. But we woke up finally around 11 and then headed out to get some food (again with the food, I know, it's a craving I have often). After food, we hit up the beach, Virginia Beach that is. No discs... what the crap. So we played quite a bit of soccer, doing a little juggling and passing and whatnot. It was goodness to feel the sand between my toes. All the while I was thinking about waves... how sick is that (it's an extension of the research I've been doing). Got a shot glass and a nice cup of ice cream. Richard beat me at Ms. Pac-Man but that's because I was too gung-ho when I would get the power-pellets. Richard even broke his own personal record which is quite cool. After that we headed back to the mall to catch a showing of Sin City. Again, quite a very cool movie.

We went back to get a different hotel (about 30/40 dollars cheaper) and then headed back out for dinner, the Comedy Zone, and some pool. I had a couple chicken breasts with some great garlic mashed potatoes. Got some Crab cakes because I was on the coast and I hadn't had seafood in quite a while. Those were quite tasty. There were a few comics, the first one was quite punny and the crowd wasn't drunk enough to laugh much, the second one was a sweet older lady that was quite funny, and the third guy is somewhat famous (he was on BET) and had a very intoxicating laugh as well as a great Bill Clinton impression. Pool was pretty fun later that night and we played a few rounds and had a round as well.

The next morning was the beginning of an epic traveling day. Three hours in the car (more Hardee's to be had... bacon-egg-cheese biscuit) with Richard, another hour on the bus, 2.5 hours at Roanoke playing catch, papersack (mocki-sack as well), cards, and eating more, songs (swing low and o when the saints) and drawing on napkins provided by Northwest airlines, another layover of about 2 hours so dinner was had in Detroit (mmm tacos), and then a 4 hour flight back to Seattle. It turned out to be a pretty good nap time while sitting next to the window. Got back, went to sleep and then woke up at 5:00 from a 3-4 hour nap that night in high hopes. You see, I was about to go play Ultimate for a day in Vancouver BC. It's too bad the Volvo was smoking so now I've got the responsibility of taking it to get the radiator fixed... soon... soon (this is why I ride bikes)

And that was the end of that (of course when I got back from being towed that morning, I threw a pizza in the oven and ate the whole thing... YEAH FOOD!). Now that I'm almost all the way caught up, I can finally fall aasleep for long periods of time which I fully intend to do, after I celebrate Thursday with the boys and girls of Dante's! SHOUT OUT!

Hopefully I won't party too hard anymore... but I'll have you know that I wasn't sick and I had a blast of a time. And I have no regrets of what happened at John's place because that shit is FUNNY!

My professor says...

do your work. More on that at a later date.

In the middle time, I'll just let you know that I'm currently famous now because I think I may have had a bit too much to drink. Quite a difficult week that, actually, isn't quite done yet. If you didn't know, I took my first trip back to the South this past weekend and had quite the good time. By the South, I mean Georgia, and by Georgia, I mean the University of Georgia in Athens. So, if you're looking for a recount of the past few days, here it is...

Sunday was going to be one of those uneventful days where you get on an airplane and fly to some locoation to have a decent time and then come back home. The thing is, I stayed out a little too late the night before and had to rush to get things done prior to leaving in the morning after a tiny amount of sleep. It's quite interesting trying to do everything before having to go and be on time for a bus. Lucky for me, I only forgot two things, both of which I had no time for. The other thing that I went back for was my belt... which always ties an outfit together quite nicely.

Showering, Shaving, Orgranising, Packing, ... all things to do before catching that bus, which in most cases is late, and fortunate for me, this was one of those cases. There was a ten minute layaway between the 36 and the 196 down on 2nd Ave and then a straight shot to the airport. I was the first there out of 9 and was a bit worried, but then they all started rolling in. Delta's got a nice new electronic system where nobody asks if you have left your bags unattended... I guess they figure that security is so tight, nothing will happen. It makes you wonder why they thought that people would tell the truth before. The flight was pretty good and I think I caught a wink of sleep, and otherwise watched a movie and read a bit of Wired. Dr. Carter was a bit hesitant about the flight, but he made it.

We arrived in Atlanta and then rented some cars, next stop food and then after that, Athens. On the way to Wendy's I saw some lady with a parrot in her car. Pretty bird... pretty bird. Athens came at 11, which is 8 here. So, we hit up the Globe in what was called Downtown Athens. Me and the math geeks had a nice round where I tried out a Delirium Nocturne. It was quite a beer and it was quite nice to sip on. I reccomend it to anyone. We came back to the UGA Conference Center and took a nap because the next day, the conference would start at 8. Yipee Hooray!

Professors from around the globe were giving talks on Non-linear stability and it turned out to be quite interesting, at least the things I understood, which were few and far between. I think I may need to go to grad school so I can get a better grasp on what I'm doing, and maybe how I'm doing it. But, I'll think about that later.

The afternoon was quite awesome. I went for a walk around UGA in an attempt to go to the Art Museum... closed, the river... a creek (but a nice one, so I sat on a rock and read some Malthus from the end of the 18th century about population and limiting space), and then, the best part, some ULTIMATE. Yeah, they play in the south... so I made some friends and played with 'em. I wanted to make it back for some afternoon talks so I took a quick break and went to those. Shortly after, I was back outside playing in the 70/80 degree weather again. YESSSSSSSS! That night I stayed in, venturing out to Jimmy John's for an Italian sandwich for dinner.

April 12... my birthday... and I'm waking up at 8:00 so I can get ready for some talks and prep my poster. Exciting, I know. And, it turned out to be pretty fun. After I presented my poster, I headed back out to the quad to play around some more, which I did, and it was goodness. I really am addicted, and I don't mind it one bit. Dr. C took me out and we went with Firat and Mike to Molly Shea's as suggested by an UGA pedestrian. Tuesdays, as it turns out, are special because you can buy a pitcher and get a free 14 inch pizza. So I got that with Mike (some Bass with a pepperoni pizza) along with a succulent cheeseburger and some pub fries. After taking a stoll back through campus instead of Lumpkin Street, I wrote a couple pages of the paper on Malthus. It only took about thirty minutes, and they actually were pretty good. Out in the hallway, I heard some familiar voices and went to check it out. It turns out the boys were going back out on the town (the banquet food wasn't so great I'm guessing). Back to the Globe for a few Whiskey shots and more Delirium. Had to take care of some phone calls after that, because it was still 9 here in WA when we got back from the 24 hour diner.

I woke up quite early in the morning for some reason and stayed lying in bed, just watching the tube. We (Carter and I) were supposed to check out of the Center that morning so we could catch our shuttle in the afternoon becasue we were coming home a day early. I had attended an optics seminar that lasted 3 hours the day before so I was a little fried and didn't exactly feel like going to any other sessions, so I just chilled, going downtown for a little, watched Finding Forerester, a couple plates of lunch (provided by the conference), Liverpool's win, and a little computer stuff (finishing up the Malthus paper). 4:45 was take off time, and that's when we left.

Popeye's was for dinner at the airport in Atlanta. And National Treasure met every exception that I had for it (which were very low and very few). Sleeping I found difficult for some reason so, I stayed up for the entire flight. There was a cool article I read about invading species in the Discover magazine Carter had bought and I spent a good deal of time looking at the rest of that during the flight. An episode of Spin City also caught my attention for a while prior to landing.

We caught a cab back, I played some more Ultimate in the astro-gym at Connely Center, and then tried to go aasleep when I got home. The change was a bit difficult still, but it felt good to be in a big cushy bed.

After turning in the paper and finishing my presentation (written in approximately 45 minutes) for the SU Sessions today, I've got one thing left to do and it's due in a little less than 10 minutes. I hope my professor understands that it won't be coming until Monday...

Tomorrow I'm going to see my sis row for the last time this year in the morning (still more sleep-loss). And then dinner with the fam with a double layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. It'll be great. Erik's throwing a triple kegger on Saturday and should be quite fun! I'll see you there. oh yeah!

When the weekend came

Friday Night

After sitting around attempting to get a hold of my family on the other side of Puget Sound, I took my bike out for a ride. It was a pretty quick ride and completely downhill so it didn't bother me much. (I do however wish my fix was back together... another spoke broke after one of my indoor matches and I've got to take it into Velo to get it worked on and also to apply for a job.) After lassoing the GT up, I hopped on the ferry and rode my skinny butt over to Bremerton while reading about a rock and a watch and an eye and a telescope. Let me tell you... exciting is definitely not a good word to describe it. In B-town, my g'pa picked me up and I headed back to my place in his oh so quite station wagon where I would stop by, get the keys, pet the kitty, and immediately get in the Volvo and head back to Seattle. Lucky for me I had my computer with me and I turned on the music (there's no music output system in the Volvo currently, although I heard that my mom is planning on getting one for Katie's birthday gift) which kept me quite sane.

Saturday

Getting back, I was to wake up the next morning at 5:30 and pick up some other crazies in order to go all the way to Bellingham. All in all, there were 20 of us in 5 cars... more than I had ever dreamed of! DirtyDeeds-GirlyNeeds was coming around in my favor (too bad no one has paid yet... and if you can't sense the bitterness in my tone, it's probably because you're not listening hard enough)!

So we got there... after losing Jock who stopped at BK and a few U-turns (actually 4) to the women's field. They got out and would start playing soon enough. While they were getting ready, the boys were getting back in the cars to head up to Ferndale to play in our own tournament. We started off slow and gave up our first game to Gonzaga. What a heart-breaker! You see... we once had a perfect record against these guys and now its scarred. (we'll have to practice more now...) 13-8... but we didn't have our regular guys (i know, i know... no excuses... but... ah, nevermind).

The next game against UPS went pretty well. 13-3. Kind of a cake-walk but it was only their second tournament so it was so awesome that they were actually out there playing! Congratulations to them!

Washington Defense was up next. Suprisingly, we did pretty good. We ran a CT defense with Chase chasing (had to put that in because it was fun to say on the field...) most of the time. They, as they should, broke it most of the time, but sometimes it held for a good amount of the play, and occasionally we would get a turnover. For the first time we did this, which just so happened to be the first point of the game, UW was slowly walking it up and then they tried to split our wall. Recognizing this, I had a sweet bid to my right where I got the disc just enough to prevent a catch and caus a turnover. We scored right after that to take the our first and only lead. I must say though, quite thrilling. The rest of the game was still very fun and it was always hard to get around UW because their guys were so fricken' fast. No one could really shake 'em and throws had to be, well, perfect. So we tried our besxt and lost 13-5, the best anyone had done against them that day. (too bad we didn't play like that against GURU...)

Then we had a by where we watched some games.

Our last oppenent was the WWU-B team. It was good fun to play against them and we ended up winning, making our record for the day 2-2-0. I don't remember a lot of the game, mostly because I was and still am really tired. After that though, we grabbed some PBJs and headed back over to watch the girls finish out there game. They were also playing the WWU-B team and were doing the best they had done all day against them. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to tell them something that possibly could've led to their win, but I was told to keep my mouth shut and only yell "UP!"... so that's what I did, and I was probably the best "UP!" caller that day. With great effort, the McGoldrick Girls came away with a 4-0-0 day (because we count the losses first to trick people into thinking we're awesome).

It was now time for food. Boss Tweed's was our destination and a Cheeseburger was my meal. One of the teammates had to launch some of his food to the floor due to his stomach not accepting it. Sorry, we gots no pictures.

Then it was time to hit the showers. I found out that I weigh 187 pounds or approximately 85 kilos (I may be way off here) and that my back-pack weighs about 25. Imagine carrying that thing over your shoulder all day. The shower was nice and I got my dirty knees clean again... for some reason, my knees always get dirty when I play Ultimate. While waiting for the girls, we played some Hearts. And when they were finally done, we went to the Ultimate party! Here we learned a new game called flip-cup which involves drinking and, you guessed it, flipping a cup. It's fun. Team Fuck-it-All went 2 out of 3 for the win. HECK YES WE'RE AWESOME! Getting back to our floor where we would spend the night, some of us attempted to watch Snatch. Although riveting and excellent in every way, we still managed to fall asleep.

Sunday

The next morning, the girls got up to play at 9 and the guys had their first game at 11. After a mesh on Saturday, the girls pulled it together to get their first win!!! Way to go ladies! The guys only managed to lose 15-12 to Whitworth due to the fact that we were playing 'stupid savage' or, as non-Ultimate players would have it, 7 men vs 6 men. Out 6 guys did pretty well and I only wish that Whitworth didn't have that one tall handler with his wicked forehand and some kick-ass instincts. So, cold and wet, we were going to wait around for the girls and watch the UW-D play against WWU-A.

Pizza was the next thing on the list so we went to this place in Downtown Bellingham (which they had a sign for because if it wasn't there, you'd be through it in a matter of 4 blocks) called Wood Fire Pizza. Let's just say that it was quite, very delicious. I only wish that I could've had more...

The ride home was pretty fun and our car had a lot of discussion... about the book Beloved, showers, the goings on of the tournie, and other things... it was goodness.

Getting home was sweet and all I did was lay around. I had to finish my reading on watches, and it turned out to be alright. I think I may be a little sick now due to the vast amounts of running that I did in the rain, wet and cold like a rock in a stream, but it was worth it. FUN is always worth it!

The bid is in

Hooray! Next weekend about this time I'll be heading up to Bellingham to play in a righteous tournament coined "DirtyDeeds-GirlyNeeds". SU is taking up two teams, a men's and a women's, in order to compete against the great NW. We'll take 'em all on and, all things going our way, take first. If we don't take first, I'm hoping to come in at a cool 6th... yeah, that'd be nice.

Game Review : Star Wars Republic Commando

9 of 10 stars
It was good. A lot to actually think about instead of just going around shooting things. Tactics were involved through formations and setting up your 'squad' by positioning them into sniping or grenade spots. The door breach manuever would probably be one of my favorites.
After playing it all the way through, the difficulty in the end was definitely there. The wookies were astounding and some of the abilities of some droids were quite freaky. I'm guessing on a harder difficulty setting, it would take quite a bit more of pre-planning and, well, better shooting (especially because ammo seemed to be quite a problem). The sequel will be quite good.

And now that Spring Break is almost over, I can offialy say that I've accomplished next to nothing thereby making it a worthwile non-school week. Lucky for me and the rest of us kids here at SU, we don't start until Tuesday because we're all supposedly Catholics and Sunday's Easter. Let's hear a Hooray for Catholicism!

Oh! and the Webbs along with Tom and Jeff are now movie stars! Way to go boys!

Ass pain

...comes from riding a bike just a little too long after you've eaten just a little too much. I can still ride though, so it's not worth complaining about...

The dentist was kind to me this past Monday as I found out that not only is my insurance running out, I also have a couple of cavities. I've now got to rush in and get those suckers filled before money has to start pouring out of my, well, pores, in order to pay any sort of dental fee.

Constantine turned out to be a pretty decent movie... kind of a Dogma meets Stigmata kind of deal where the angels (or "half-breed") are pissed off about the ability of humans to be forgiven their trespasses. But Keanu Reeves did a pretty good job in it with a couple of one-liners that weren't completely wasted. Thanks Katie for being such a good sport all the way...

And now, after a brief encounter with the family, I'm back in Seattle playing some video games, Ellen's in Canada doing who knows what, Katie's get some guard competition in Oregon this weekend, and Anna's rowing until she falls down everyday (lucky her)... The playtime I speak of consisted of running around a giant field, throwing a circular plastic thingy called a disc at eachother. Sounds like a good time, doesn't it??? I know I like it.

So, in all the turmoil, we, meaning NAB, played in 6 games. We could've played a seventh, but we didn't exactly have the man-power. Injuries plagued our second day and everyone's muscles, it seemed, were ready to fall asleep at any moment. The ride home proved this point as everyone was falling asleep (including me playing the role as driver).

The first day we played Lewis and Clark, a friendly team from Oregon that went on to lose against Whitman in the semi's (a rather interesting game to watch where we picked apart a new zone that was meant to push the O to the sides of the field with 4 in the front spread out across the field, 2 short deeps covering the holes, and then a deep deep). We lost 13-4, but that was really our first real game ever. Of course we scored the first point, but it was downhill from there. We played some man on man and learned some new phrases as a team: DIP (Dick in Pocket), Under, Straight-up, and Force. It's too bad we never got the force right "god damnit" (right Finn???).

We thought we had a by after that, but it turns out that we had a game a mile away on some distant field#3 against PLU-Betas. Despite their Jesus Reigns shirts, we still came out on top with a 13-8 victory. After this game my knee decided to hurt real bad. It wasn't because I was running hard or that I had landed on a rock, it was because I nailed the back of my teammates head as he was lying on the ground, getting up to get the same disc I was going after. Silly Ben... If you're down, you should stay down.

Gonzaga, or GURU, was next and man what an exciting game. We hold our flawless record against and are now 3-0. This game, however, ended up being 13-12 due to the hard-cap. Finn didn't play a single point and instead was our coach and I was acting as captain. We would call plays and set up D's that actually seemed to work. We took them to half with a 7-4 score and then kind of went downhill to let them catch up to us. When it was 10-9, Finn called a couple huck plays downwind for me. The first two I came down with and then got a mostly easy pass off to Robert Mylroie who happened to be in an enormous amount of pain because he doesn't run much... just a biker. But we pulled it off and were getting totally pumped. The last time we tried it I got a palm to the chest to stop my running but almost managed to get the final point. Too bad it didn't happen... But WE WON! and that's exciting.

Now's the time where we actually had a by... and it's really too bad that we did. Getting up to play BC-B was a little tough and it showed because we went down 7-1 by half-time. After this however, we decided to play a little zone D which totally spooked 'em. So, that's exciting. We pushed BC back one time from the half to the back of their endzone with a 4-man cup (learned that line-up) and didn't let them out of 10 yards of it until they turned it over. I couldn't believe what we did, and then we continued to give them a hard time with it. We came back only to be disappointed with a score of 12-10, them.

Pizza followed while we watched the UPA Championship series movie called Airborne off of a projector. That was pretty sweet... except for the warm soda...

Then the next morning came and we beat Simon Frasier. Very exciting! 11-7. Things were working and both teams were dropping the disc because the wind was, well, insane. We took it to half by ourselves and then Finn joined us for the second half. With only nine guys to begin with and an injury that occured (leaving us with 8), we played pretty darn well. WWU - Dirt was next and we played almost savage against these guys and managed to get to a 15-9/10 loss.

Subway was a nice after games treat and we even got a deal on 'em: 3 for $12. We tried to get Slushies at 7-11, but the machine wasn't working for the flavor I wanted. That was a downer. Ben almost got smooshed by one of the Whitman players when he was attempting a greatest. (I almost had a scoring greatest and another one... both times a landed on the gravelly stuff that was surrounding the fields... it kind of hurt and the Score was dropped by Brian. shoot.)

Thus ended the tourny... and it was good. 7th / 8th place and everyone smiling / sleeping.

Now, on to finals...

As soon as you're born

you start dying...
you mind as well have a good time!
